omage Call for Participation

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION HAS BEEN EXTENDED!

This is a Call for Participation for the Otis Faculty Exhibition, “Omage 08: The Artists, Designers and Writers of Otis College,”  to be held at Track 16 in Bergamot Station, Aug. 2 to Aug. 30, 2008. Submissions of work are open to all full-time, adjunct, as well as part time faculty who have taught at Otis for two years or more. The Guest Curator for this exhibition is Lisa Melandri. This exhibition is organized by the Faculty Exhibition Committee of Otis College of Art & Design, with support and advisement from Provost, John Gordon, with a generous commitment of funds and mentorship by Meg Linton, Gallery/Public Programs Director and the generous financial support of contributing College Department Chairs.

Lisa Melandri is Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Programs at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (SMMoA), where she organizes exhibitions and manages oversight of the museum’s infrastructure and exhibition/education program. She also curates the Project Series at SMMoA, where she has featured the work of promising, emerging and mid career artists. She has organized Enigma Variations: Philip Guston and Giorgio de Chirico, (2006 with co-curator Michael Taylor, Philadelphia Museum of Art) and William Pope.L—Art After White People: Time, Trees, & Celluloid… (2007), and “Rosamond Purcell: Two Rooms” (2003), which is still touring nationally. She received her BA in Fine Arts/Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard College in 1993 and her MA in art history from Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art in 1997.

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility:

  • Open to all Otis Full-Time, Adjunct, and Part-Time Faculty teaching for two years or more
  • Must provide images of available work only
  • Must be able to deliver work to Track 16 on July 15 - 18 or July 23 – 25, 2007.
  • Must be able to pick up work from Track 16 on August 31 to Sept. 2, 2007 or make arrangements to have someone pick it up for you. No exceptions.
  • Must provide own special equipment, such as projectors, monitors, etc. for display of work
  • All work must be submitted ready to hang or install

July 15 - 18 and July 23 - 25   Delivery of Artwork to Track 16, 11am- 5pm
July 30 - August 1   Installation of Exhibition
Sat., August 2    Reception, 6-9 pm
Sat., August 30    Closing Reception
August 31- September 2    De-installation, 11 am to 5 pm
